The long awaited IRCC Interview
It's impossible to overstate the importance of the IRCC interview, and the amount of stress it causes refugee applicants to Canada. If you do poorly during the interview and are denied entry to Canada applicants can appeal the decision, but that takes time and the Sunil family has already waited years.
The Sunils travelled to the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok at the appointed time and were interviewed for about 90 minutes by consular officials.
Although they were asked to sign some documents, they weren't told if their claim had been accepted.
The family returned to their apartment to wait some more.
But in Metchosin the MRSG is starting to plan. Where will they live? What household supplies and furniture do they need, and where do we get them? What about transportation? What's the COVID quarantine plan? What about... healthcare, education, employment, cultural transition, emotional support, counselling.....and ...?
And most worrying.... What if the Canadian Government says NO?
